Review of ASO news from the App Store

  1. Updated App Review Guidelines that apply to music streaming. Retro gaming console emulator games are now permitted software.
  2. The number one priority is about new beta releases. iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5, macOS 14.5, tvOS 17.5, VisionOS 1.2 and watchOS 10.5 are now available. We recommend that you prepare your applications by making sure they work correctly in these releases.
  3. Web distribution is now available in iOS 17.5. We remind you that authorized developers are allowed to distribute their apps in the EU through websites. Apple will provide developers with access to APIs that facilitate integration with system functionality, as well as backup and recovery of user apps, once they meet certain requirements designed to help protect users and the integrity of the platform.
  4. Developer Events and Workshops: Apple announced a series of labs, consultations, sessions and masterclasses available worldwide in both in-person and online formats. These events are aimed at helping developers learn App Store optimization, increasing in-app engagement, and new technologies such as Apple Vision Pro for visionOS. Resources are designed to improve developers' skills and expand their product offers.
  5. Special event from Apple - May 7 at 7 am (pacific time)
  6. Apple Search Ads is now available in Brazil and other Latin American markets. Geographic expansion occurred in 70 countries and regions, including Brazil, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Paraguay.

P.S. A quick reminder  - the privacy requirement for app submissions comes into effect May 1st.

The new beta version brings improved features such as edge-to-edge app display, optimized NFC performance and other improvements.
  2. Android Studio now integrates Gemini Pro, replacing the previous Studio Bot feature, to make Android development faster and easier. Gemini Pro, an AI-powered tool inside the IDE, provides programming assistance by offering code generation, autocompletion, answering developer questions, resource discovery, and more. Developers can interact with Gemini using natural language queries to obtain context-sensitive responses. Android Studio also provides additional tools and a Gemini API starter template that let you integrate these capabilities into your application development.
