ASO News. October 2025
In this ASO News issue for October 2025, we take a detailed look at the main updates in the App Store and Google Play that affect mobile app optimization strategies. These changes will help us stay ahead of competitors and effectively adapt ASO tactics to new opportunities and regulations.
Apple App Store: Main News and ASO Insights
Starting January 1, 2026, Texas will enforce SB2420, which introduces age-verification requirements for App Store users. New Apple accounts must indicate whether the user is over 18; minors must join a Family Group, and all downloads and purchases require parental approval. Developers will need to adapt their apps to the new regulations and use updated APIs for age categories and parental consent. Similar measures are expected later in Utah and Louisiana.
Apple released an updated version of the Apple Developer Program License Agreement on October 8, 2025. The changes aim to clarify terms and support new policies, including updated requirements for interpreted code, refined rules for the Location Push Service Extension, Xcode Cloud, and CloudKit updates aligned with EU Regulation 2023/2854, and revised usage terms for the Tap to Pay API, promo codes, and offer codes. Developers must review and accept the new terms in their accounts.
Starting January 1, 2026, developers based in the Republic of Korea will be required to provide a server endpoint for notifications when registering or updating a Services ID associated with the Sign in with Apple feature. This will allow Apple to send account status notifications — including email forwarding changes, in-app account deletions, and full Apple ID deletions. Developers must promptly update user data and backend infrastructure to ensure transparency and control over personal information. Apple also reminds developers to comply with privacy and local data protection laws.
On October 29, 2025, Apple announced new tools designed to help developers better manage app publishing and more effectively promote their products in the App Store.
Developers can now submit individual items for review independently from the current app version — for example, In-App Events, Game Center features (achievements, leaderboards, etc.), or emergency bug fixes. This provides greater flexibility in managing updates and content.
The number of Custom Product Pages has increased from 35 to 70, and each page can now have its own keywords, improving app visibility in search and enabling more precise audience targeting.
In addition, offer codes are now available for all types of in-app purchases — both one-time and subscription-based, including non-renewing subscriptions. This allows developers to offer temporary discounts or free access to content, encouraging user engagement and purchases.
Starting March 26, 2026, promo codes for in-app purchases will no longer be created in App Store Connect, as their functionality will be fully replaced by offer codes, which provide more flexibility and expanded availability settings.
Apple announced price adjustments in the App Store for Poland, Switzerland, and Turkey, effective November 17, 2025. The changes reflect currency fluctuations and tax updates, ensuring price consistency across storefronts.
If one of these countries is selected as the base storefront for an app or in-app purchase, prices will remain unchanged. The adjustments also won’t affect auto-renewable subscriptions or regions where developers manage pricing manually.
Updated information is already available in the Pricing and Availability section in App Store Connect, where developers can change prices at any time.
Google Play: Main News and ASO Insights
- Google launches a global accelerator for emerging app developers
Google Play has opened applications for the new Google Play Apps Accelerator — a 12-week program for startups and young companies ready to scale their apps. Teams from over 60 countries can apply, and the program will kick off in March 2026.
Participants will have access to one-on-one mentorship sessions with Google and industry experts, as well as practical modules across four key areas:
- Build — from prototype to scalable product;
- Grow — growth strategies, marketing, and LiveOps;
- Earn — monetization models and sustainable business development;
- Lead — building an effective team and company culture.
Applications are open until January 7, 2026. The program will help developers strengthen their presence on Google Play and achieve new levels of growth.
- Google Play announces winners of the 2025 Indie Games Fund in Latin America
Google Play has announced 10 independent game studios from Latin America that received funding under the Google Play Indie Games Fund 2025 program. This year, the fund will invest an additional $2 million, bringing the total support to $8 million.
Studios from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia will receive between $150,000 and $200,000 in non-dilutive funding, along with hands-on support from Google Play to expand and enter new markets.
Among the winners are Aurecas Games (Space Defense: Idle Tower TD), Bromio (Remnants of the Rift), Cadabra Games (Adore), DevCats (A Building full of Cats 2), Rogue Snail (Hell Clock), and others. The program aims to support indie developers and foster innovation in the region’s gaming industry.
