ASO News. March 2025
ASO News is our way of keeping up with the latest updates in the mobile app market during March. Any update or change in the rules of significant app stores can influence ASO strategies and tactics. Here are updates from the app store and Google Play for the past month.
App Store ASO News. March 2025
The platform has never been this quiet in terms of updates. Only one official announcement was made during the whole month:
- Technology and Creativity Week
When: June 9–13, 2025
Join Apple’s presentations of the latest tools, frameworks, and features. Learn how to improve your apps and games with video sessions from Apple engineers and designers. Ask questions in online labs and connect with developers around the world. Participation is free and fully online.
However, thanks to the ASO community, we’re aware of a few more updates:
App Store Page Review Summaries
In iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, app pages now feature review summaries — short paragraphs highlighting key takeaways from user reviews. These are generated using LLMs and updated at least weekly if there are enough reviews. Users can report issues with a summary by long-pressing the text. Developers can manage this feature via App Store Connect.
App Store Search Improvements
The search now supports:
- App Tags to better highlight app features directly in search results
- Natural Language Search to help users find apps using everyday phrases, including goals and specific functionality
Google Play ASO News. March 2025
Google has released Android 16 Beta 3, officially stabilizing the platform. The system APIs and behaviors have been finalized, allowing developers to publish compatible apps on Google Play. Key additions include Auracast support for audio broadcasting, improved accessibility with Outline Text, and local network security testing. The update is available on supported Pixel devices.
When: May 20–21
Google will present its vision for the future of Android, AI, web, cloud solutions, and more. Learn how new AI models can help build innovative apps. The event is free to attend online — registration is already open.
Google has introduced new tools and updates for developers — from enhanced checks in Play Console to improvements in the Play Integrity API. The goal is to secure app development, protect users from fraud, and build trust in the platform. New features include updated store badges, more supported languages in the support community, and AI-powered threat detection — all part of the effort to grow the Android ecosystem.
In Android 16, opting out of edge-to-edge mode is no longer possible. WebView now renders under system bars and cutouts unless insets are set.
- If you don’t control the web content, wrap WebView in a container and apply insets to the container.
- If you do control the web page, you can pass insets to CSS via JavaScript
- Don’t forget to account for the IME (on-screen keyboard), or parts of your content may be hidden
More details are in the official Compose, Views, and Edge-to-edge documentation on Chrome.
